Традиція написання писанок є дуже давньою і сягає сивої давнини. Яйце у різних народів світу асоціюється із початком життя. У кожній християнській країні є якийсь свій різновид Великодніх яєць. Їх розфарбовують у різні кольори та наносять малюнки.

Однак, такої різноманітності і багатства орнаментів та колористики, які притаманні українській писанці – не має ніде. Писанка для українців уже є традиційним символом Великодня.

Кожний присутній мав нагоду самостійно видути яйце та розписати його використовуючи кістку (писачок) та віск, та пофарбувати занурюючи у синтетичні барвники. Також була можливість спробувати у дії електричний писачок (який люб’язно надала на час проведення дійства Христина Клим). Яйця розписувались як традиційними методами, так і новими. Христина Клим навчила присутніх писати лемківську писанку різнокольоровим воском на білому яйці. Віск з такої писанки не знімають, а залишають. Як результат отримують чудовий, ніжний рисунок.

The tradition of writing Pysanky Easter eggs is very old and dates back to ancient times. Eggs in different nations of the world are associated with the beginning of life. Every Christian country has its own kind of Easter eggs. They are painted in different colours and decorated. However, such diversity and richness of colour and ornamental decoration that is inherent to a Ukrainian Pysanka cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

For Ukrainians, the Pysanka is the traditional symbol of Easter. In each region, even the smallest village, has its own style of Pysanka.

Participants had the opportunity to blow out the egg and paint it using a kistka (writing/decorating instrument) and wax, and paint by immersing the egg in synthetic dyes. There was also an opportunity to try out an electric kistka (kindly provided by Khrystyna Klym at the time). Pysanky were painted with both traditional and new methods.

Khrystyna Klym taught participants to write a Pysanka in the Lemko style with coloured wax on a white egg. Wax is not removed from such Pysanky, but left. The result is a beautiful, delicate pattern.
