Stand against the Russian war in Ukraine

Community working Bee

November 6, 2018

Community working Bee

We are always amazed at the generosity of our AUV members. And they always come through.

On Saturday 3 November 2018 after just finishing a busy weekend event in Bonegilla, a few members mobilised and offered their time to do some improvements around the hall in Essendon.

Victor powering away in the kitchen

Victor Zablockyj and Andrew Mandyczewsky arrived around 7:00 am as we set up for a full clean of the kitchen. Victor had a lot of gear and enthusiastically cleaned the kitchen with water and spray everywhere. He cleaned, walls, fittings and floor.

Vasyl Mykhaylyk was actually working that day however he took a couple of hours off work to help. He helped with kitchen cleaning and then painted the stage back-wall. He returned to work in preparation for Cup Day.

Olena Dyachkova had to go to Sydney, so she sent her husband. He could only stay for an hour or so as had ‘children duties’ but worked hard.

Felix Figurek, Andrew Mandyczewsky, Marjana Miladinovic, Vadym (the Dynamo) Poliushchuk, Anatolyj Kukul, Taras Kret and the President of the AUV Slawko Kohut all worked very hard all day.
Even Andrews wife Nadia came along for a few hours. Andrew and Marjana were the last to leave.

Summary of jobs done:

Kitchen cleaned.  Walls, floor, sink and shelves.

Stove trivets removed and degreased.

Room next to kitchen emptied and made ready for freezer.

Store reorganised.

All standing partitions moved downstairs and feet properly screwed on.

Bookshelf removed from office and 2 filing cabinets from Board room moved there.  One filing cabinet moved temporarily to store to be taken to church next week.

Lights replaced with LEDs.

Stage back wall painted.

Rear of Domivka (the emergency exit area) cleaned out and fence fixed.

Weeds growing in car park removed.

Various door hinges fixed.

Door retaining hooks placed on all main entry doors (side entrance).

Carpet to floor edgings fixed in place near toilets.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated their time and energy. This is what our community is all about.
