• The AFUO calls on the Australian Government to send its retired fleet of Taipan helicopters to Ukraine, rather than burying them in landfill.
• Ukraine has had a chronic shortage of helicopters over the last decade, so this decision is a huge missed opportunity and a significant and needless waste
• 45 Taipan helicopters would be a gamechanger for Ukraine, provide a significant boost to Ukraine’s air power which will help to defend and protect against Russia’s attacks
• The 45 Taipans would go a long way to replacing the 45+      Ukrainian helicopters which are reported to have been lost in operations since the start of the full-scale war
• The value of these Taipans (over $900 million) would double the size of Australia’s support for Ukraine to date — such a great opportunity for Australia to help Ukraine
• Ukraine needs modern Western helicopters, both quickly, and in large numbers — these Taipans would be an enormous help
• We are grateful for Australia’s support and friendship, but we need capabilities to keep fighting and to restore peace
• We call on the Albanese Government to reverse its decision and Free The Taipans
