Stand against the Russian war in Ukraine

The Women of Mariupol

The Women of Mariupol

Family Lives UKRAINE Project

Family Lives UKRAINE is a project aimed at fundraising for Ukrainian Women and Children affected by war through storytelling and performance art.

We invite you to join us in showing your support for our project for Ukrainian Women and Children.

The project will be creating a unique book based on women’s stories from many parts of Ukraine, which will include beautiful art illustrations from a Ukrainian artist, Mariam.

The main event aimed at raising funds for the Family Lives UKRAINE Project will be staging an original theatrical performance at theatres in Melbourne and Brisbane.

Auteurs Collective Productions will reimagine Euripides’ classic Greek anti-war play The Women of Troy.

The drama focuses on women who have survived in a war-ravaged city and are awaiting their uncertain fate.

The focus of the play will shift from ancient Troy to modern-day Mariupol. As a result, the reimagined play’s new title will be The Women of Mariupol.

The third aspect of the project will share women’s stories from Ukraine on their website aimed at reaching a global audience.

The team includes:

Sophia Ivanna Hodych: Project Coordinator, Creative Contributor, Ukrainian Consultant and Artist.
Teresa Lachowicz: State Coordinator for the International Coordination of Medical Aid to Ukraine, Ukrainian Consultant.
Yarema Pryslak: State Executive for Plast Ukrainian Scouts Victoria, Ukrainian Consultant.

Associated Organisations: Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO), Association of Ukrainians Victoria (AUV), Lehenda Ukrainian Dance Company, Dnister Ukrainian Credit Co-Operative and Plast Ukrainian Scouting Organisation.
