About the design: Motifs in Ukrainian embroidery contain a code. Oberih is a protective motif, an amulet, believed to offer protection and good fortune. Protective motifs are being embroidered onto shirts for Ukraine’s defenders or onto small pieces that they carry on their person. This oberih hails from Volyn’ in north western Ukraine.
