This year the Association of Ukrainians in Victoria decided to try something new and different and staged the very first outdoor Ukrainian Festival at Queen Victoria Market.
The weather was great, the people turned out in their hundreds and the feedback was nothing but positive. We saw Ukrainians that we had not seen for years – this festival attracted Ukrainians and the wider community from all walks of life.
We came together to celebrate Ukrainian Independence Day and mark 70 years of Ukrainian Settlement in Australia.
The Association of Ukrainians in Victoria hosted 5 main marquees: Cossack Bar, Baba’s Kitchen: varenyky and borshch, Pechevo: Ukrainian cakes and pastries, Kransky & kapusta and Merchandise.
Almost 4000 varenyky were sold
20 slabs of Ukrainian beer
AND
4 slabs of plum cake
