The world is witnessing one of the most unjustified and callous attack on Ukraine. Hospitals, kindergartens, homes, and cultural institutions are being bombed, destroyed and wiped out from existence. It is a mass genocide of innocent men, women and children.Whilst we cannot stop this war, we as a global community, the creative community can show our support in any way we can.
As you read this, murals painted by local artists around the city of Melbourne that are dedicated to the plight of Ukraine are going up to raise awareness, support and fundraise to provide financial assistance as well as provisions for those affected.
Art For Ukraine is an initiative in partnership with the AUV in which a small collective from Melbourne, Australia come together to create a series of murals, artworks and an exhibition in dedication to Ukraine’s fight for their freedom.
The murals are well underway across our city – you can follow our Facebook page @Art4UkraineAUS for regular updates.
Part of the project involves this exhibition featuring donated pieces from various artists of Melbourne. A couple of pieces include the below from Joanna Tarasiuk (Sunflower), Otto Macpherson (Lino cut “Ukraine”) and Eva Heiky Olga Abbinga (photography).
The exhibition will open on 28th April at Off The Kerb Gallery in Collingwood. We would like to thank Shini at Off The Kerb for her generous sponsorship of this event and wider project. Your support is greatly appreciated and contributes toward a better world for Ukraine and beyond.
